Anthony John Gray
Anthony John Gray was born in Stoke-on-Trent and educated at Friars School in Bangor. He trained as a teacher at Cardiff College of Education before taking up a post in London. He later became a lecturer in Bangor. He played at wing-forward in 250 games for London Welsh, was in the team that won the Middlesex Sevens in 1973, and captained the club in 1971/72 and was later their coach. He played in two internationals for Wales in 1968 and later that year toured Argentina and played in the two 'non-cap' tests against the Pumas. He coached the national side from 1985 to 1988, including the successful inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987 when Wales finished third. He also played for London Counties against South Africa in 1969.
