There have been many other great matches and achievements of note. The great honour of playing against the British Lions on their return from New Zealand in 1977 was just such an occasion. Although losing by 23-14, the match produced £100,000 for the Jubilee Trust Fund (which was the largest individual contribution to that Fund), and also some sternly contested and sparkling rugby.
Then there was the opening of the new East Stand at Murrayfield in 1982-83 against Scotland, won by 26-13, a match graced by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne.
