Roy Thomas Edmond Bergiers

Roy Thomas Edmond Bergiers was born in Carmarthen on 11 November 1950 and educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in the town before qualifying as a teacher at Cardiff Training College. He played at centre for Llanelli and scored the try in that club's famous 9-3 victory over New Zealand in 1972. He also played for West Wales against Argentina in 1976 and New Zealand in 1978. Between 1972 and 1975 he scored two tries in 11 internationals for Wales and played for England & Wales against Scotland & Ireland at Murrayfield in 1972. Roy Bergiers toured South Africa with the British Isles in 1974 and scored two tries in 10 appearances.
