James Shane Byrne

James Shane Byrne was born in Aughrim, Co Antrim, on 18 July 1971 and educated at Blackrock College. He played at hooker for Leinster and Saracens. Between 2001 and 2005 he played in 41 tests for Ireland, including the Rugby World Cup in 2003, and scored three tries. In 2005 he toured New Zealand with the British Isles and played in seven matches, including the test against Argentina and the three tests against the All Blacks. Shane Byrne also played for Ireland against the Barbarians in 2000.
