Gerald Davies
Thomas Gerald Reames Davies was born in Carmarthenshire on 7 February 1945 and played at centre for Wales, the Barbarians and the British Isles before developing into a world-class wing threequarter. He made his international debut at the age of 19, scored 20 tries in 46 games for Wales and played 19 times, including five tests, for the British Isles in 1968 and 1971. He also captained Cambridge University, Cardiff (for three seasons) and Wales in his final international in 1978. His ten games for the Barbarians included the end-of-tour fixtures against Australia (1967 and 1976) and New Zealand (1967 and 1974) but withdrew injured having been originally selected for the 1973 match against New Zealand. He captained the Barbarians against the Lions in 1977 and in 2009 was manager of the British & Irish Lions on their tour of South Africa. Gerald Davies is a trustee for the Barbarians Charitable Trust.
