Windsor Hopkin Lewis

Windsor Hopkin Lewis was born in Maesteg on 11 November 1906 and educated at Christ College, Brecon, and Cambridge University and took medical qualifications at Guy's Hospital before working as a consultant anaesthetist in Cambridge. He played at club level for Maesteg and London Welsh. The father of Geoffrey Windsor Lewis [qv] and an international fly-half of renown, he won caps for Welsh Secondary Schools before two Blues at Cambridge. He gained the first of his six senior caps as a 19-year-old in 1926 when Wales beat Ireland 11-8 at Swansea. A year later he made his Barbarians' debut in the Mobbs Memorial Match and captained the Club against Cardiff in 1930. Later the same year he joined the club committee. Windsor Lewis died on 30 November 1982, aged 76.
