Philip Orr

Philip Andrew Orr was born in Dublin on 14 December 1950 and educated at Dublin High School and Trinity College, Dublin, He is a clothing manufacturer. He was a long-serving prop forward for the Old Wesley club and represented Leinster against New Zealand in 1974 and 1978 and Romania in 1980. He also played for the Irish Universities against the 1974 All Blacks. His six appearances for the Barbarians included the end-of-tour matches against New Zealand in 1978 and Australia in 1984. His 58 caps for Ireland between 1976 and 1987 set a new record for a player in his position. In 1980 he played for Scotland & ireland against England & Wales. Philip Orr also played 17 games, including one test for the British Isles, on the Lions' tours to New Zealand in 1977 and South Africa in 1980. He joined the Barbarian Football Club committee in 2008 and is also a committee member of the IRFU.
